FSF Announces Appointments of Two Safety Experts

by Flight Safety Foundation | August 27, 2013

Alexandria, VA  – The Flight Safety Foundation announced today that the President and CEO, Kevin Hiatt, had named Lisa Sasse as the Vice Chair of the Business Advisory Committee. Ms. Sasse has served on the committee for many years and was recommended for this position by the current Chairman, Peter Stein.

Sasse is highly focused on safety. She has parlayed her deep interest in aviation safety and combined that into championing the installation and use of a very present safety concern product manufactured by VisionSafe, their cockpit smoke displacement system.

“Lisa is a long-time supporter of the Foundation through her work on the Business Advisory Committee and she will bring an unequaled passion to promote this important sector of the industry within FSF,” Hiatt stated. “She has a long background in aviation and will bring that expertise for the benefit of everyone.”

The Foundation also announced that it has created a new position of Special Liaison to the President and CEO and had named David Bjellos to fill it. This position has been created to function as a direct liaison to the safety team at the Helicopter Association International.

Bjellos is the aviation manager for the IS-BAO Stage III flight department at Florida Crystals Corporation. He is a dual-rated aviator, flying GIV-SP, Sikorsky S-76C+ and the Bell 407. He is board member for Helicopters Association International and a member of the Chief Pilots Roundtable.

“FSF is doing more work with helicopters and with David’s experience in operations and safety, this will be a very valuable asset for the Foundation,” Hiatt said. “With his assistance, we can work more closely and efficiently with the helicopter community.”

Both of these positions are effective immediately.
